Bow

Bow as he was brought in to MVS

On May 11, one of our volunteers called us about Bow. Bow was rushed to Michigan Veterinary Specialist after someone found him with an arrow through his left cheek.

Bow was a stray cat, living somewhere near Burton and US131 in Grand Rapids.  We are told that he was being fed by many, but never had a home of his own.

The arrow entered his left cheek, went through his esophagus and exited just past his right shoulder.

The doctors and staff at MVS performed emergency surgery, removing the arrow and administering antibiotics and IV fluids. That’s when our volunteer,  Amy, a licensed veterinary technician at MVS,  called us.  We transferred him to our vet, Dr. Bruce Langlois at the Animal Hospital of Lowell, where he can further recover from his injury.

After visiting with Bow today, we are hopeful that he will make a full recovery.  Bow still has a long road ahead of him. Bow’s biggest hurdle over the next few days is avoiding  infection and sepsis, but with more time and medical treatment we think he will pull through this ok.

The woman who brought Bow to MVS said that he was a neighborhood cat and that he wandered the streets where many people were feeding him, but that he never had a place to call home. Once Bow is fully recovered, we will be sure that he gets the best home ever and never has to be on the streets again.

Carol I don’t see a specific link for Bow’s care so I’m going to just hit your main “donate” button and contribute towards his care/your organization as needed. I hope he can recover.
